This week, Absolar hosted Cassius Mitchell for work experience. Cassius is studying Creative Media at Andover College and wanted real-world learning and exposure in renewable energy, so we gave him exactly that: a seat in client meetings, a role on an active case study filming day, and a firsthand look at how creative media skills translate directly into telling a story.
Outside the classroom, Cassius has already made a name for himself as a WAKO World Champion and 4-time British Kickboxing Champion with Team GB, so he clearly knows how to show up and perform. We hoped the week would give him something genuinely useful to take back to his course, and it delivered.

"I'm interested in renewable energy and wanted to learn more about how solar power works. What Absolar stood out to me is the opportunity to develop practical skills, gain real industry experience, and work alongside a team with so much knowledge and passion for what they do."
Cassius Mitchell, Work Experience Student, Andover College
He started the week by putting together an introduction poster about himself, a neat way to set out his interests and what he was hoping to learn from the placement. From there, he sat in on client meetings and joined the team on location for a case study filming day, seeing firsthand how a real project gets captured and turned into a story.
The standout of the week was earning his drone licence. Cassius spent time learning to fly professionally and practising different camera movements for capturing footage, a real achievement to fit into a week's work experience.
Alongside the flying, Cassius wrote a press release about Absolar's FinderScanner tool, learning how press releases are structured and how businesses communicate what they build. He also recorded screen captures of the tool in action and used the footage to produce an explainer video, editing everything together in Canva for the first time.

A solid week. It's been great having Cassius around. If this is what he can pick up in five days, we're excited to see what comes next.
