WA Cafe is a boutique Japanese patisserie started from Ealing Broadway, well known for its delicate pastries, refined flavour combinations and elegant café setting. The project site is the central kitchen where much of the production takes place. The building is of two floors, containing a large-scale commercial kitchen with high energy consumption. Originally, the roof has shown several places with visible erosion, bringing the question about structural feasibility for solar PV installation.
As a first step of this project, Absolar engineers conducted roof repair works for the building, including cut-edge corrosion treatment and multiple layers of waterproof coating. During this process, existing coating and rust have been carefully removed, allowing the entire roof to be treated for renovation.
Energy saving: The Cafe has significant electricity demand due to the use of multiple ovens. After the installation of solar PV system, the annual electricity production is projected to be 53,700 kWh which will be used onsite.
Sustainability impact: the WA Cafe has high environmental standards, using naturally sourced ingredients and environmentally friendly tableware within their branches. The adoption of solar energy systems is aligned with their vision in net-zero.
Project management: The project was managed by a dedicated project manager to ensure that no obstruction was caused to the day-to-day operations of the site and to the production.
We’re really pleased with our new solar installation at WA Cafe. The Absolar team managed everything so smoothly, with no interruption to our day-to-day. They were careful and considerate throughout the project, and always kept us in the loop with clear updates. The whole process felt easy and well looked after. We’d happily recommend them.
