In a major step towards urban sustainability, the A P Loveridge Trading Estate - located next to Southampton Central Station - has partnered with Absolar to install solar panels across six commercial buildings, helping to cut energy bills and carbon emissions for its diverse community of local businesses.

The project was inspired by the successful Draper Tools installation. With rising costs and a growing commitment to sustainable operations, the estate’s managers approached Absolar to explore similar solutions. The result: a high-performance solar PV system, set to deliver both financial and environmental benefits from day one.

Agriculture

Belcher Farms operates multiple agricultural sites across the region, including Newlands Farm and Grange Farm, mixed-use sites with high year-round energy demands from livestock operations, machinery and tenant occupants. Like many farms, these were facing significant cost pressure due to the continued rise in energy prices amongst other economic burdens.

Cafe | Restaurant | Bakery

WA Cafe is a boutique Japanese patisserie started from Ealing Broadway, well known for its delicate pastries, refined flavour combinations and elegant café setting. The project site is the central kitchen where much of the production takes place. The building is of two floors, containing a large-scale commercial kitchen with high energy consumption. Originally, the roof has shown several places with visible erosion, bringing the question about structural feasibility for solar PV installation.

As a first step of this project, Absolar engineers conducted roof repair works for the building, including cut-edge corrosion treatment and multiple layers of waterproof coating. During this process, existing coating and rust have been carefully removed, allowing the entire roof to be treated for renovation.
